Over the past semester I have grown a lot as an artist. I have used new mediums and have worked a lot on my weaknesses. Out of all of the artworks I have the ones that I will add to my AP portfolio is my fractured medium and my colored pencil drawings. I hope to create more artworks like this in the future, and hopefully it will help me develop my concentration.
- Identity
- Teenagers - Teenage life: Behind the scenes - Hardships of life around the world I decided to base my trading cards off of the in things that I am interested in and I enjoy drawing. Therefore, I decided to do a line drawing and a drawing of a bear with half of its skull exposed. I used Prisma Colors for the cards and enjoyed drawing them. I was able to work on my ability to use colored pencils, and also used new shading techniques, which helped better my understanding as an artist.
Although it may not look completed, I decided not to color in the eyes on purpose. By leaving them blank I think it allows the onlooker to have their own perception of the piece, and question where the human is looking. I also decided to leave out the eyes to have them blend in with the background and show how much we are influenced by society, without even knowing it.
Due to the fact that this is the first time I was using colored pencils, I was thrilled when I realized how fun they are to use. By using the pencils I have learned a great deal with shading and layering different colors. I have also learned about the importance of value of color, shape, and form.
In this piece I used watercolors to subtly resemble a face looking in the mirror. I also began drawing a barcode in front of the eyes, and hope to finish it and paint it black. My reasoning behind this is to show how identity can change due to society and the consumer market. By using the "watercolor drips" along the side of the lower face, I was able to learn more techniques about the fall of the drips, and how to layer them. Overall because of this project I learned the value of light to dark in the piece and the importance of space.
During this project, we incorporated maps into different art projects. This project was interesting for me because I learned different shading methods. This helped develop my art skills, and make me a better artist. I was very intrigued by the lines and main roads and rivers in the map, which influenced the woman's face. By using those lines it helped me create the boarders of her profile and hair. I was able to incorporate the boarders of the towns and state by shading in the boundaries which was shown through her hair. Overall I am very content with this piece and hope to work with more maps in the future.
During this project I took chances by using different mediums and mixing them together, which also helped me learn more about art. I also feel although I am communicating through this art piece. Overall I had a lot of fun making this art piece and especially liked drawing the hip and butterfly.
During this project I experimented with colors that wouldn't normally be paired together to form a background to a quick drawing of a trumpet. I enjoyed this project because I like how different mediums came together to create a cohesive project. In this project I took risks in the colors I chose in the background, which helped me develop my art making skills.
We were introduced to conte crayon and given the opportunity to choose a pepper that we wanted to, and draw any angle that we wanted to. Due to the fact that conte crayon was new to me, I took risks using it, to see what it was capable of, and how it looked on different types of paper and colors. I also was able to develop my art making skills by learning how to use to conte crayon.
